THIS WEEK'S TASTING - SATURDAY FEBRUARY 7 - 11 am until 6 pm

We will be introducing you to Knipprath Cellars from Spokane. Stop by and enjoy their: 2004 Cabernet Franc (Columbia Valley sourced Cabernet Franc) - $23.99 - bottled as a 95% Cabernet Franc to reveal true varietal flavors of cassis, cherry and spice with soft French oak aging. Round, fleshy mouthfeel with a lingering finish and subtle tannins…truly enjoyable. Three percent Cabernet Sauvignon and two percent Syrah rounds out the blend.

2007 Vinho Tinto - $18.99 - A blend of three Portuguese grape varieties sourced from the Lodi Appellation, and driven overnight to the winery for early morning processing. Crafted from the grape varietals Touriga Nacional, Tinta Roriz and Souzao to produce a fruit-forward dry red wine layered with spice and floral notes, this young red blend is ready to enjoy now with Spanish, Mexican and lighter cuisine and has an age worthiness of 5 - 8 years. 120 cases produced.

And we will have Ports from them also: Au Chocolat! - $14.99 - Small lots of Cabernet Sauvignon dessert wine are meticulously barrel aged with natural chocolate flavoring extracted from imported cacao beans to create the award-winning "Au Chocolat!". It is the ultimate pairing for wine and chocolate lovers, tasting like a chocolate cherry cordial!

LaV - $14.99 - Red Wine Port Aged with Vanilla Beans Columbia Valley Appellation 58% Merlot, 42% Syrah. A signature Knipprath Cellars melding of Old World and New World flavors. Our merlot-based port is aged with whole Madagascar and Mexican vanilla beans up to six months before bottling to create a port reminiscent of a berry swirl ice cream or berry crumble. With 500 cases produced, LaV! is a delicious accompaniment with crème brûlée, vanilla-based desserts or cave-aged gruyère cheese.

Matrix - $20.99 -Ruby Port - Columbia Valley Appellation 96% Syrah, 4% Touriga Nacional. Exhibiting exciting ruby port notes of berry, raisin and spice with a palate-cleansing finish from an intact grape acid structure, Knipprath Cellars 2007 Matrix shows wonderfully with a berry-topped cheesecake or pork tenderloin with a port reduction mushroom sauce. A mere 120 cases produced.

GALA OF THE GODS ---- Friday February 27 ---- Landmark on the Sound. The kick off event for the 5th annual Poverty Bay Wine Festival. Wine tasting, hors d'oeuvres, live musical entertainment, and a fun auction. Get your tickets from any Des Moines Rotarian, or at Des Moines Drug or from us when you are in. $75.00.

POVERTY BAY WINE FESTIVAL ---- Saturday February 28 and Sunday March 1 ----- Landmark on the Sound. Parking with free shuttle service from the south end of the Des Moines Marina to Landmark.

$20.00 includes your tasting glass and 10 tokens for you to use towards your tastings. (Double the tokens this year) Also sample some Norhtwest fare and enjoy live music throughout the day.
