This week were taking you to Lodi California and introducing you to LangeTwins Family Winery and Vineyards As a fifth generation farm family we are dedicated to improve our techniques in the vineyard and winery to make the best and most sustainable wines possible.
LangeTwins Family History
During the 1870's our Great-Grandparents, Johann and Maria Lange, emigrated from Germany to Lodi, California and rented a small country home with a few acres that would sit near the corner of Kettleman Lane and Hutchins Street today.
Melons were the choice crop in Lodi, and Great-Grandpa Johann took up growing non-irrigated watermelons on the small plot of land surrounding the home. Like most farm families, his son, our Grandpa Albert, helped in the watermelon patch and before he knew it he was working hand-in-hand with Great-Grandpa building the family farm.
In 1916 Grandpa expanded the farm by purchasing our family's first grape-ranch on Davis Road - it was our initial step into the wine industry! But just as important, it was on this ranch where Grandpa built the family home for his sweetheart and wife Grandma Nella, and four years later our dad, Harold, was born in 1920. Just like his father, it was natural for Dad to work with Grandpa, gaining experience to carry on our family's agricultural roots.
2007 Sauvignon Blanc $13.99
Our 2007 Sauvignon Blanc is grown within a mile of the winery. Opening with a lemon blossom and lime zest aroma, a light and refreshing Meyer Lemon note with undertones of honeydew melon pleases the palate. This well-balanced light-creamy palate, from sur-lie aging, leads to a mellow and long lingering finish.
Lodi Appellation
2007 Chardonnay $13.99
The Delta Rim Chardonnay Vineyard consistently creates unique tropical fruit flavors. The 2007 Chardonnay has an overall brightness of fresh-cut pineapple and honeydew melon that carries in both the aroma and taste. Subtle banana and creamy vanilla notes, from French and American oak, will also please the palate. The wine slowly finishes with a smooth texture and unexpected length.
Clarksburg Appellation
2006 Merlot $13.99
The 2006 Merlot is a blend of two vineyards in two appellations - 70% Clarksburg Appellation and 30% Lodi Appellation. The individual vineyards give unique characteristics to the overall blend of the finished wine. 15 months of French and American oak aging and extended maceration add layers of concentrated flavors. This full-structured wine with softness carries a focused ripe-blackberry aroma and a light berry note on the palate. This initial richness is further enhanced with a cocoa powder essence, smooth tannins, and a broad mouth feel, which lingers in a long finish.
California Appellation
2006 Cabernet Sauvignon $13.99
The gentle rolling and cool vineyard floor in Louise`s Vineyard helps create our high-quality winegrapes. The vineyard is noteworthy as being a benchmark for quality, consistently producing a wine with fullness and a rich, extractive palate. The finished wine underwent 25 days of extended maceration giving a concentrated fruit flavor. This is a well-balanced and well-rounded wine with layers of anis spice and dark-plum fruit on the nose, to dark berry characteristics on the palate. 15 months of French Oak aging complements the Cabernet Sauvignon, adding depth of flavor and a soft-tannin finish.
