What's Happening at CorkyCellars?

Week of July 4, 2009 - What's Happening at CorkyCellars?

HOLIDAY HOURS

We will be open Saturday July 4th from 10 AM until 3 PM

THIS WEEK'S TASTING - SATURDAY JULY 4 - 11 until 3

As you can tell we will be open for part of Saturday to take care of last minute wine needs! On the tasting bar will be ----- BERGER GRUNER VELTLINER - $13.99 - This is the new vintage so wanted to start trying as they are available.

S.C. PANNELL GRENACHE ROSE - $7.99 - Made from 37 year old, dry grown, bush vine grenache from Blewitt Springs (Australia). The grapes were crushed and left on skins fro 48 hours to achieve the wine's color. The result is a dry grenache rose with fresh red berry and rose petal fruit characteristics and a crisp, lively palate.

DE LISIO SHIRAZ GRENACHE - $20.99 - Another one of those great distributor deals! Regular price would be $44.99 - "The 2005 Shiraz (82%) - Grenache (18%) spent 26 months in French oak, 30% new. A glass-coating opaque purple, it offers a brooding nose of wood smoke, Asian spices, pepper, blueberry, and blackberry liqueur. Lush on the palate, it has mouth-filling fruit, tons of spicy blue and black fruit flavors, enough structure to evolve for several years, and a long, fruit-filled finish. Drink it through 2020." OWEN ROE'S SHARECROPPER'S CABERNET - $15.99 (reg. $20.99) - Owen Roe Sharecroppers Cabernet 07 has smoky blackberry and dark cherry aromas that leap out, signaling the showiness of this young Cabernet. Packed with juicy black fruit flavors--especially cassis--this is a big mouthful of Cab, with dried herbs and earth on the slightly chewy finish. David O'Reilly strikes again: great value, great wine. -- 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, David O'reilly describes this as a very concentrated wine with flavors of cassis, blackberry, and a hint of juniper. The yield was down for the 2006 vintage, meaning less wine, but a more concentrated wine. Made from Elerding and Alderdale Vineyards in the Yalkima Valley, there's also a bit of Red Willow Vineyard fruit in the wine. The wine is ready to drink, and David says: "It will blow you away". northwest-wine.com
