This is our one wacky Saturday of the year! With the Crush Hunger starting at 4 PM we will have a very abbreviated tasting.

We will close at 3:00 to get ready and give the crushers the run down on what will be going on. Need to draw numbers for when they will hit the barrels, get pictures while they are still standing and make sure that all shoes are removed!

Please join us for this fun event. The teams will need your encouragement and we need your help in picking the best costume and best team name.

Remember that this year we are trying to help the Des Moines Food Bank so any donations will be greatly appreciated. Or, you can pick a favorite team and pledge money to them - there is a prize for the most money raised by a team!

We have chosen a few items to share - sort of an around the world with a little longer stop in Argentina.

For the whites we will do: HEARTLAND STICKLEBACK WHITE - $7.99 - A blend of Verdelho, Semillon and Chardonnay from Australia. Also, PASCUAL TOSO CHARDONNAY - $11.99 - a 100% Chardonnay from Argentina.

For the reds: RODOLFO PINOT NOIR - $10.99 - this will be fun to see the difference in a Pinot from Argentina.

LOT 205 - $10.99 - a 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from California.

And to finish - URANO MALBEC - $10.99 - another Argentine wine to end up our little trip around the world.

Visitors to Leavenworth have asked us about Wine-A-Rita's Wine Glace', Peach Bellini and CosmoRita. Well we found them and have brought them in to try.

WINE GLACE' - A perfect and refreshing blend of wine and a frozen drink. The mix is one flavor and may be blended with your favorite red or white wine. Try Merlot for a full bodied drink, White Zinfandel for a lighter taste, or a fruit wine for a sweeter treat. The options are never ending. For a non-alcoholic drink, mix with fruit juice.

PEACH BELLINI - Harry's Bar in Venice claims credit for creating the Bellini, an Italian classic. Peach Bellini can be blended with your favorite White Wine or to add some bubbles to your Bellini, blend with Proscecco, Sparkling Wine or Champagne. Blend with ginger ale for a non-alcoholic treat.

COSMORITA - A sophisticated twist on a trendy city classic, with a combination of the cosmopolitan and a frozen cocktail. Blend with white wine or vodka. The Wine Glace' company favorites are Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Grigio.

Watch in the next couple of weeks as we will probably be sampling the Wine Glace'.

BREEDERS THEATER tickets are selling fast. Here is a chance to see live theater without putting on your tux and gown and spending a week's salary. Tickets are $20.00 and include wine tasting, hors de ouvres, the original play THE LAST MAGICIAN and free parking. Give us a call to get your tickets reserved before they are sold out!

This is the big week end around Des Moines also. The Farmers Market will be open until 4 PM, there is a classic car and wooden boat show, and a strong man compitition all in the Marina on Saturday.

Don't forget the Rotary Pop & Drop that happens in Beach Park at 2:00. Could be your chance to win $500 but more importantly help Rotary with their community project.

The Parade is also returning this year. The Junior Parade will start at 5:30. The route is on Marine View Drive between S. 277th and S. 216th. And the Main Parade will begin at 6 PM. Going along Marine View Drive between S. 235th and S. 216th.

Marine View Drive will close between 4 and 4:30.
