We are excited to have Jim Henderson winemaker/owner of LOWDEN HILLS WINERY joining us this Saturday. The wines we will be featuring are: 2006 RIESLING - $13.99 (reg $16.00) - European style, dry/semi dry, compares with best around (winemakers comments) ----------------------- 2004 MERLOT $17.99 (reg $20)Discover dark fruit, and a ribbon of blackberry. Deep cherry, raspberry, just the right amount of chocolate ride on a velvety presentation to a medium long finish. Balanced to the winemaker's art of classic Merlot with a touch of imagination. (winery website)

2005 SYRAH - $20.99 (reg $25) - "Once the cork is removed, the aroma of caramelized sugar wafts from the bottle. In the glass this Syrah is inky, showing shades of purple and black. The nose is full and lush like a bowl of fresh picked blueberries. The flavor follows through with more blueberries and a hint of creamy espresso. The finish lingers with hints of cloves and nutmeg adding in." (winemakers notes)

2004 CABERNET - $21.99 (reg $24) - A classic cabernet sauvignon , deep blackberry, with notes of currant and spice. Integrated oak notes, finishing with a touch of white pepper in a finish longer than the Kentucky Derby. Incredible smoothness paired with a stunning taste profile that will keep you coming back for more. (winery website)

2004 CASITA CUVEE - $18.99 - A beautiful blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah. Enjoy the intense complexities of the terroir of these wonderful Washington vineyards; Alder Ridge, Killian, Sun Dance, and Les Collines. (winemakers notes)

RIC STRUCK PAY DIRT AGAIN!!!

One of our distributors is blowing out the 2005 vintage of S. C. Pannell Shiraz. Steven Tanzer - "93 pts ... Inky violet. Highly perfumed boysenberry and blueberry aromas are enlivened by exotic floral pastille, vanilla and incense notes, plus a subtle hint of graphite. Suave and silky in texture, showing impressively pure dark berry and fresh cherry flavors on a midweight frame. Whatever tannins might be here are buried under an avalanche of pure, sweet fruit. Downright sexy shiraz, finishing sweet and long, with a persistent candied violet note."

From James Halliday - "96 pts ... A fine wine from the first whiff through to the finish and aftertaste; has intense black and red fruit flavours with no alcohol heat; perfectly integrated and balanced French oak. Drink through 2025."

Wine Spectator - "90 pts ... Ripe and focused, with creamy blueberry, plum and white pepper mingling effectively on a supple frame. Not a powerhouse, but beautifully put together. Drink now through 2015. "

When it was released it was going for $59.99 -------- You can cash in on the distributors price cut -----

ONLY $20.99 This is one you will want to pick up at least six of to have to enjoy for awhile. Not sure how long it will last so don't miss out. (CorkyClub members save even more ----- only $17.84 per bottle)

FRIDAY NIGHT TASTING - SEPT. 11 - 4 until 6:30 pm

For the warm weekend we will be sharing a STRUB GRUNER VELTLINER KABINETT FEINHERB. It is a charming, young and refreshing white wine with a mellow slightly sweet mouthfeel. It tastes almost like an off-dry Riesling with the same fruit flavors although the acidity and the minerals are a bit more pronounced. The palate offers white peach, lemon, white blossom, Peppermint, slight exotic hints and a Beautiful balance. The finish invites you to another sip. Once again, the quality and the consistency of Strub even show in his Gruner Veltliner, a grape which normally excels in Austria. (PJ's Wines website)

And to show you the value in the S.C. Pannell we will have a bottle open for you to try.
