What's Happening at CorkyCellars?

Week of November 28, 2009 - What's Happening at CorkyCellars?

THIS WEEK'S TASTING - SAT. NOV. 28 - 11 until 6

This week we have Bruce Shileika, winery representative from CANYON'S EDGE WINERY joining us. We will be featuring: SAGE BRUSH RED - $10.99 - this is always a crowd favorite. (60% Merlot 15% Cabernet Sauvignon 15% Syrah 10% Cabernet Franc) This ruby red gem is a soft and supple Bordeaux-style blend that is very drinkable right now with hints of blueberry, blackberry and plum. This delightful and affordable wine will please any lover of hearty quaffing wines with an eye for quality.

MERLOT - $14.99 - “Lush” Merlot flavors with sweet vanilla oak flavors and a long balanced finish round this Merlot out. Hints of Chambord (wild blackberry), marionberry and loganberry. Another classic to enjoy with meats and cheeses.

CABERNET - $14.99 - An incredible vintage of 100% Cabernet Sauvignon grapes from the Horse Heaven Hills A.V.A. This wine show's a forward bright red fruit with well developed structure, a long finish and velvety mouthfeel that gives away the aromas of ripe blackberries, dark cherries, nutmeg sweet oak and spices. The finish show's intricate flavors of raspberries, ripe cherries and unsweetened chocolate. This wine makes an incredible match with a good sirloin steak and any other meat roasted or grilled.

SYRAH - $10.99 - It is an intense, rich, fruity Syrah with flavors of black fruits, mulberries, pepper, spices, ripe plums and herbs to fill your mouth with intense flavors. The ripeness of the 2005 vintage shows the flavors of raspberries, blueberries, ripe plums, red currants and spices. It matches very well with grilled meats, stews and Italian dishes.

And it's always nice to end up with a little dessert - JEREMIAH'S CHOCOLATE WINE - $18.99 - This wine speaks for itself! A rich and fruity Syrah blended with chocolate flavoring to create a very unique and delicious wine. Enjoy with dessert, on its own, or in a reduction sauce over strawberries, cheesecake or chocolate treats.

BLACK FRIDAY TASTING - FRIDAY NOV. 27 - 4 UNTIL 6:30

After you get your shopping done and hidden in the closet swing down for a little cheer.

We will start the season off with CASCADIA WINERY APPLE WINE. Apples represent the world-renowned fruit symbolic to our state. Made from 100% Washington State apples and selected from the finest varieties (usually Gala & Golden Delicious) to offer you an aromatic, flavorful, and balanced wine. Enjoy this crisp, (2.6% residual sugar) wine by itself or with pork, sausage, spicy cuisine, fondue, pastries, or smoked cheddar. (winery website info) This will be something different that may fit right into your families new favorites!

And if it is a chilly day then the ST. CHRISTOPHER GLUHWEIN will really hit the sport. Even if it isn't that chilly it will be nice to warm up and have a traditional German drink. ****** "Gluhwein is German for mulled wine (literally translated it means “glow wine”), glühwein is wine, usually red, combined with different spices and served hot. Also called vin chaud in French and vin brulé in Italian, glühwein is most popular in Germany with the well-known Christkindlmarkts, crowded Christmas markets, visited by thousands each year. The drink provides the perfect beginning, middle, and end to a trip to the market; you are warmed from head to toe and filled with the holiday spirit. It’s also ideal for a winter party or just sitting at home relaxing by the fireplace." (from Suite101.com) \

Hope you can stop by and enjoy a couple of fun tastes on Friday.
