WEEK OF JULY 17, 2010 - WHAT'S HAPPENING AT CORKYCELLARS?

THIS WEEK'S TASTING - SAT. JULY 17 - 11 am until 6 pm

We will be featuring SODO VINO winery this Saturday. The winery has recently moved from their location in the Sodo area (on Atlantic) because of the Alaskan Way tunnel project. They currently do not have a tasting room so join us in supporting Jim and help get the word out about his wines.

2007 Lewis Vineyard Syrah - 100% single vineyard Syrah - $25.99 - Sourced from one of Washington's premier vineyards, this Syrah exhibits lovely hints of chocolate covered strawberries and is elegant enough to pair with almost any meat or pasta dish. Aged 14 months in new American and neutral French oak.

2007 So' Syrah - Gold Medal Winner - 86% Syrah, 14% Mourvedre - $19.99 - Blackberry pie and loads of dark berry fruit accompany earth notes and pepper on both the nose and palate. So' Syrah has a smooth full mouth feel with firm tannins and a long finish. Aged in 75% neutral French oak and 25% new American oak for 14 months.

2007 Sodovino Red Wine - Bronze Medal Winner - 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 27% Mourvedre, 23% Syrah - $19.99 - Aromas of cherries and fresh blackberries combine with forest floor and spicy cedar, followed by cherry liqueur, chocolate and vanilla on the palate. This wine has a full mouth feel with firm tannins, balanced acidity, and a long finish of cinnamon and cloves. Aged 15 months in new and neutral American and French oak.

OK you white drinkers there is not a white listed but I'm sure Ric will find some treat to share!


FRIDAY NIGHT TASTING - JULY 16 - 4 until 6:30 pm

Two different varietals this week. If you are keeping track you can add two that are not listed on the Century Club sheet LISTAN BLANCO and MONDEUSE

TAJINASTE DRY WHITE WINE - Cultivated white variety: 100% cultivated listán blanco from the 500 meters of altitud. Ageing: 15% of the wine ends its fermentation and ages during two months in new barrel of oak. ------- Our details: For all grape harvest we use small boxes of 15 kg with the purpose of guaranteeing that the grape arrives in the best conditions at the wine celler. ------ Tasting: Of sure straw yellow colour, it is discover in nose, yet the potential that offers our white variety for excellence: listán blanco. On a bottom slightly smoked they emphazisize pleasant floral notes and aromas to fragmentation hand grenade, apple, fennel, forest...When tasting it one offers fresh and smooth, with a balanced affluent acidity. ----- We advised to serve it around the 7 or 8ºC. The red will be: Montagnieu Mondeuse Bugey. The Mondeuse grape is indigenous to Bugey and Savoie. It can be surprisingly velevety: many reds and whites from this place share a common thread of high acidity. The color is exceptional as well: black in a land where pale red is the norm.


BREEDERS THEATER OPENS FRIDAY.......

Withering Heights opens this Friday (July 16) at E.B. Foote Winery in Burien. Get a group of your friends or family together that enjoy original theater and having a good time and include this play in your summer activities.

For $20.00 you get wine tasting, light hors d'oeuvres, the play and free parking. This has to be the best deal in the universe.
