WHAT'S HAPPENING AT CORKYCELLARS? - WEEK OF JULY 30, 2010

THIS WEEK'S TASTING - SAT. JULY 30 - 11 am until 6 pm

Stop by and visit with Dominic as he presents ERIN GLENN WINES. ISA White Blend. NV. Columbia Valley - $13.99 - A lovely white blend. Isa, named for the ancient Celtic rune of stillness and contemplation, is a balanced blend of Viognier, Gewurtraminer, and Riesling.

2007 VIOGNIER. Columbia Valley, Wa. $15.99 - Newly Released!

THREEMILE Bordeaux Blend. Columbia Valley, Or. $19.99 - Winemaker's Notes: Using fruit from Threemile Canyon’s oldest and youngest vineyards, we fashioned this wine in the traditional Bordeaux style. Threemile combines Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petite Verdot, and Malbec to make a hearty, robust red ~ layers of fruit, tannins and terroire will compliment hearty fare.

TANTRUM Red NV Coumbia Valley - $15.99 - Winemaker’s Notes: The fourth generation of this cleverly crafted wine, named for our four daughters, Tantrum Red is a unique blend of Pinot Noir, Merlot and Barbera. A full bodied red wine, Tantrum has won the palates of many a wine lover and is one of our best sellers in the tasting room and around the Columbia River Gorge.

“Gemini” Late Harvest Gewürztraminer (375ml) Columbia Gorge, Oregon - $14.99 - Winemaker’s Notes: The last fruit to be harvested at our Estate vineyard, the grapes captured all of the last rays of the season and hung on the vine, slowly dehydrating until harvest, when they yielded a whopping 29 brix. Slow fermentation in neutral French cooperage for 3 months produced a luscious and fruit-filled liquid treat.

FRIDAY EVENING TASTING - FRI. JULY 30 - 4 until 6:30

We are going North of the Border this week.

On the tasting bar will be GRAY MONK WINERY from the Okanogan region.

PINOT AUXERROIS - The Pinot Auxerrois grapes were primarily grown in our own Gray Monk vineyards. The grapes were harvested at perfect readiness and great flavours. Pale lemon in colour, this wine has a fruity aroma with muted notes of lime. The complex layers of fruit flavour suggest peaches and sweetened rhubarb with a refreshing underlying acidity. Served chilled, this wine is delicious on its own, with salads, seafood or poultry.

PINOT BLANC - The grapes used in the Gray Monk Pinot Blanc were harvested between 20 and 21 Brix from vineyards in both northern and southern Okanagan Valley. The juice was fermented in stainless steel tanks using yeast that enhances flavour development. Pale straw in colour, this wine has a fruity aroma suggesting pears, herbs and light spice. It is packed with fresh and sweet fruit flavours, including ripe pears, apples and melons. Supple and full in texture, the wine has a dry finish. Serve chilled with seafood, poultry or mild cheese.
